Anthony DiPippo sits in his cell at the Putnam Correctional Facility awaiting sentencing in August that could send him back to state prison for many years to come.

DiPippo was convicted last week of murder and rape a second time for causing the death of 12-year-old Josette Wright of Carmel in 1994. The jury deliberated for two days before rendering its verdict.

A man described by police as being distraught allegedly threatened officers with a knife last week before agreeing to drop the weapon, ending a standoff that police said could have resulted in “suicide by cop.”

Pair from Lake Carmel Charged with Arms Theft

Two Lake Carmel men are facing a variety of felony charges for allegedly being in the possession of a large cache of assault rifles reportedly taken from a home in Dutchess County during an October 2011 burglary.

Kent Police reported the arrests last week of Justin Shinkaroff, 28 and John Cartularo, 32.

Patterson Man Charged with Selling Cocaine

A Patterson man is facing a lengthy state prison term for allegedly selling cocaine in the greater Patterson-Southeast area.

The Sheriff’s Department reported the arrest last Friday of Thomas Salese, 31, following a three-month investigation.
