Brewster Girls Pick Up Steam, Run Over Mahopac, Greeley

BREWSTER—The Brewster High girls lacrosse team opened last week with a tough, 16-10 loss to Horace Greeley on the road, but the Bears bounced back well – topping Mahopac, 15-9, Friday, then bouncing Greeley, 17-8, Monday on the road.

Mahopac also dropped a 13-9 decision to Yorktown last Thursday on the road, and the Indians fell, 15-9, to Lakeland/Panas the prior Tuesday.

MAHOPAC—Mahopac Manager Chris Miller knew his team would have to cool off sometime, but Miller and the Indians are sure hoping it isn’t now – as playoffs are fast approaching. The ‘Pac dropped back-to-back games for the first time all season last week, falling to John Jay EF, 3-1 Saturday on the road, after falling to Yorktown, 5-2, two days earlier at Yorktown.

Easton Obojkovits will be hanging up his Carmel Rams baseball jersey in a few weeks after signing a letter of intent to play ball at the Stevens Institute in New Jersey—a college he will be calling home in September.

‘Pac Bounces Suffern, Falls to Northport, 10-7

MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High lacrosse team split a pair of games last week, grabbing a 10-8 win over Suffern last Tuesday, before falling to Northport, 10-7, Saturday on the road.

At Northport (10-5), the Indians led 3-2 after a quarter, but a 4-1 run in the second by the host put them up 6-4 at the break.

Brewster Tops Putnam Valley, Ossining, Claims League 1B Title

BREWSTER—The Brewster High lacrosse team picked up two wins least week – topping Ossining, 9-3, Saturday after beating Putnam Valley, 11-7, last Thursday – and also claimed the League 1B title with a 4-0 record.

BREWSTER—The Brewster High baseball team played well against Somers Saturday, but still came up on the short end of a 3-1 decision in a League 1B game played at Brewster. The Bears also dropped a 9-7 verdict to the same Tuskers one day earlier in Somers.

The two losses left the Bears at 5-13 overall, and 1-10 in league play. Somers improved to 9-3.

CARMEL—Carmel’s Jasmine Ennabe pitched a one-hit shutout Monday, as the Rams softball team posted a 2-0 victory over Brewster in a League 1B game played at Brewster.

Eagle Scout Project Creates St. James Church Garden

Frank Sicignano’s love for his house of worship has resulted in the creation of the St. James Church Garden in Carmel.

The young man designed the garden for his Eagle Scout project, but not before organizing and coordinating a spaghetti dinner at the church to raise funds.
