Dear Mr. Hall:

I’m glad you’re celebrating 90 years of women having the vote (The Hall Report, August 27th). This woman plans to “celebrate” also—by voting to remove you from office on November 2. I have written to you several times since moving to Putnam County, and have urged you not to vote for a number of bills because of their fiscal irresponsibility.

Yesterday you wrote to me again (The Hall Report, also August 27), and I quote:

“I fully support the mayor’s (Koch) efforts in reforming and re-envisioning our government as we strive to make it more accountable and efficient. It is vital that we constantly work to rebuild the public’s trust in government. We can start with sensible budgets and fairer taxes.”

Horsefeathers! Accountable? Efficient? Now you talk about sensible budgets and fairer taxes? You have blatantly ignored those of us who are tired of billion/trillion dollar bailouts, and high-priced, thousand-page, health insurance laws, designed to put each of us, our children and grandchildren into massive debt for years and years to come. The time to stop the spending was before these outrageous bills were passed. It is obvious that you do not represent me, so I will vote for your opponent who more closely shares my philosophy and values. If anybody in Putnam needs a reason to vote for change, they only need to read the article: Congressman Hall Goes All in—With Your Money (p.10), PUTNAM COUNTY COURIER, Aug. 26. It’s enough to make a taxpayer sick.
