Pegasus Registration Underway
With alcohol and substance abuse cases on the increase throughout the region, Putnam officials have called on the public to avail themselves of the county’s free Pegasus Program to learn coping techniques.
Pegasus provides education and support to children aged 6 through 14, as well as parents, guardians or loved ones suffering from alcohol or drug dependency.
Program coordinator Adriene Iasoni- Aull explained that Pegasus is “all about understanding the problem as well as learning coping skills. We want those in need to receive guidance in a non-threatening setting consisting of fun activities while making new friends. The creativity provided by staff results in an enjoyable, learning experience that is confidential and does not label children or those suffering from the addiction. Our goal is never to condemn but to assist.”
Pegasus will be held this year starting on March 1 at the Putnam Youth Bureau located on the Donald Smith Governmental Campus off Old Route 6 in Carmel.
