Students Donate Basketball Game Proceeds to Community Action
CHS Principal Kevin Carroll and students Alex Gillette and John Babich welcome Judy Callahan to the hallowed halls of Carmel High.
Sue Dieck Putnam Community Action Program is $600 richer this week thanks to students at Carmel High School.
The school’s Student Organization donated all proceeds from admission collected at last month’s Mahopac- Carmel basketball classic.
The Carmel-Mahopac rivalry has been referred to as “the Army-Navy challenge of Putnam County” with large crowds from both communities always on hand to root for either the Indians of Mahopac or the Rams of Carmel on the football field, baseball diamond, or hardwood.
Last week, Judy Callahan, Community Action’s executive director, visited the school, where she was presented with a check for $600 from Carmel High School seniors Alex Gillette and John Babich.
Callahan thanked the students for supporting CAP promising them “your wonderful and generous donation will go a long way towards helping our clients in these difficult economic times.”
